Thanks, Paul and Bulent. Cape May is indeed a lovely Victorian Village, with many beautiful older structures, many now serving as B&Bs. Yes, the cars annoyed me. Capturing some of the lovely buildings is made quite difficult not only by all the cars everywhere, but also by the many street trees and the ever-present telephone poles and electrical wires. The trees add to the charm of the place, especially at this time of year, but make it difficult to capture an entire structure from any vantage point.
There were homes that I liked a lot more, but could not get any decent images of. I grabbed images of others that were totally spoiled by trucks, signs or other cultural impediments. There is an image I took of a home I thought best represented the Victorian style prevalent in Cape May, but have not presented it here because of the utility wires that totally spoil the effect. I took a few shots of this structure, and chose this one largely because I could crop out much of the offending vehicles and signs without spending a lot of time with the clone tool. When I have more time, I hope to go back and try to clean up some of the other images and see what I can get. The bottom line is that the only way one can truly appreciate the architecture of Cape May is to walk the streets and take it all in with the human eye, which has a way of minimizing the obscuring distractions of modern life.
