Last week Jupiter was so clear and bright in the sky I decided to try
getting some photos of it with my Sigma 50-500 to see how many moons I
could photograph.
While I was processing photos I decided to try something silly and see
how much detail I could pull out of Jupiter. These involve some
ridiculous levels of post processing, multiple passes with clarity maxed
out and so forth. I then processed them to jpegs at about four times
resolution, and posted a couple processing attempts of several frames.
I think that I did actually manage to pull out enough detail to see that
Jupiter has stripes, but then again, that could just be artifacts of
processing.

I don't think that I'd be able to do much better without much better
equipment.
