PENTAX EXPANDS 35MM LENS SYSTEM WITH TWO SUPER-COMPACT LENSES: SMC-FA 28MM-105MM F/3.2-4.5 AL [IF] AND SMC-FA 28MM-90MM F/3.5-5.6

PENTAX Corporation expands its line of 35mm lenses with the introduction of the SMC-FA Zoom 28mm~105mm f/3.2~f/4.5 AL [IF] and the SMC-FA Zoom 28mm~90mm f/3.5~f/5.6 standard lenses. Each lens features super-compact dimensions, wide-to-telephoto zoom coverage and high-quality image reproduction. Depending on desired focal length, they are both well suited for quality-conscious photographers around the world - from beginners to the advanced. Designed for use with PENTAX 35mm-format SLR cameras, the SMC-FA 28-105mm lens is one of the most compact and lightweight in its category. Thanks to the incorporation of a hybrid aspherical lens element, it measures only 2.6 inches (66mm) in diameter and 2.6 inches (65.5mm) in length and weighs a mere 9.0 ounces (255 grams). This aspherical element also contributes to the improvement in image quality and the reduction of coma and spherical aberrations. Image quality is further enhanced by the application of PENTAX' s original ghostless coating. Other notable features on the SMC-FA 28-105mm lens include: a zoom macro capability for close-up shooting at a minimum focusing distance of 1.65 feet (0.5 meters) for a maximum magnification of 0.19 times; an inner focus mechanism for fast, flawless focusing operations; and a flower-shaped lens hood with a polarizing filter adjustment window. Covering the most frequently used focal length range - from 28mm wide angle to 90mm telephoto - the versatile SMC-FA 28-90mm lens incorporates ten elements in eight groups and features a minimum focusing distance of 1.3 feet (40cm) at any focal length for a maximum magnification of 0.28 times (at the 90mm setting). Its extra-compact, lightweight body measures 2.6" x 2.7" (66.5mm x 67.5mm) and weighs just 6.9 oz. (195g). Combine this compact design with simple operations and attractive styling and you have a standard zoom lens that is the perfect choice for beginning and intermediate SLR photographers using super-compact PENTAX ZX series SLRs.
