I've used Ccleaner for years. Always does a good job and have never had
a misfire where something useful was deleted. Always asked if you want
to back up the Registry before cleaning it and it's pretty customizable
as to what gets saved and what gets deleted.
BTW, re: the double c at the beginning of the software name - the
original name was Crap Cleaner. Comes in two flavors - Free and a Pro
version for purchase. The Pro version is currently on sale.
