On 21/8/19, Daniel J. Matyola, discombobulated, unleashed:

>Today and tomorrow appear to be crucial days for the future of the UK. It
>will certainly survive, but in what form will depend on the outcome of the
>discussions between the PM and the German and French leaders.

I don't think that PM Johnson's trip to Berlin will be the defining moment - it
will certainly give pointers to the direction things are taking though.

It is pretty obvious that it will go one of two ways: 1) it becomes plain in a
week or two that nobody will budge and Boris will basically say 'too bad' and
that's that. No deal. And 2) it will go down to the wire with the possible
result being the same.

Boris is more than happy to walk away with no deal - in fact that is his
preference. With those cards on the table, it's all about the EU and when - if
- they blink.

One thing is for sure - the next 2 months will see plenty of work in broadcast
news ! And I'm trying to retire, sigh...
