Many years back I submitted a few photos to the PPG, and quickly realized that the photos that got voted in were not the ones I considered my best work but rather the ones that had the most "pop" and "sizzle".
My other experience with "juried" work has been the PDML annual. If the PPG were judged by those standards I think that the photos would be chosen for a more "educated palette" and more interesting to me. I think that I've just been spoiled by what I see on PDML.
