Wow, you went to a Posh University, the one I attended had three special
meals per semester to highlight the usual gruel. One was usually a
steak of some kind, one was "Prime" Rib, and one was a Cornish Game Hen,
or for those who made a request about a week before, some kind of
special Fish preparation, such as Salmon Fillets, or, Stuffed Sole.
I never ordered the Salmon, since the University had a program
experimenting on those fish and you never know...

What Americans call Cornish Hens are tiny when served. In the US
are actually a cross between Cornish and Plymouth Rock breeds of
Chicken, and are something of a feast, but not excessively so.
I have always considered them something of a feast, and so did the
dining commons at my university. One night a month we got steak
("steak night"), but on steak night before Thanksgiving and Christmas
we got Cornish hens. That was the first time I had them and I have
always enjoyed them. They are often called Rock Cornish hens in the US
because of the ancestry described by P. J.
