After a hiatus of 40 some years, I've finally decided to make a New Years
Resolution.
Resolution 1. I'm going to finish the damn kitchen. Shouldn't be too hard, I
have less than two sheets of drywall to hang and that's two layers of 3/8", so
the actual area I still need to cover is less than 32 square feet. Once that's
done, I can hang the final two cabinets. I've already been using the kitchen
again for most of a year at least, but I still need those cabinets to free up
working space on the counter.
Resolution 2. I'm going to get my cookbooks out and at least once a month find a
recipe and cook it.
I've already started on that one, cooking "Morrocan Chicken" from Betty
Crocker's Slow Cooker Cookbook (P 118 if you have that cookbook) yesterday.

I've even managed to get all the dishes done in the aftermath. I ate about 1/3
last night, 1/3 for lunch today and I've got 1/3 left over for later. It's also
the first time I ever cooked couscous which is a lot easier to cook than rice.
Mine didn't turn out as pretty as the picture in the cookbook, but I bet it was
a lot tastier than trying to eat that picture.
I took a photo (with the K-1) of the recipe page & illustration that I'll post
to Flickr later so that this really will be only SEMI-OT once I post the PESO.
Actually Resolution 2 was the only resolution I'd made before trying the recipe,
when the realization hit me that if I get the rest of the cabinets up cooking is
going to be a whole lot easier, so I kind of backed into Resolution 1.
I've also finally figured out a use for the iPhone camera - take photos of
recipes in magazines & email them to myself so I can use them.
Sometimes when I'm sitting in the Doctor's waiting room the only reading
material available is "Southern Living" or "Better Homes & Gardens" and taking a
photo of a recipe is better than stealing the magazine or tearing pages out of it.
So, anyway, I hope all y'all are going to have a Happy New Year.
