When the Berlin walll came down and the former East German railways were integrated into the federal railways, our Western operation inherited a bunch of big diesel engines 'Made in USSR'. Their origin soon earned them the nickname Ludmilla.
Some of this series were used to pull heavy goods trains across the border into Belgium.
