Our townships is very spread out, and except for three small historic villages, homes are generally on 1/2 acre to 5 acre lots. Children who are friends in school and in sports and other activities may not know where their friends live. When one of the children has a birthday party, the parents tie several balloons to the mail box to help other parents find the house.
One of the children in the house across the street from our had a birthday, and their parents put balloons on the mail box, even though, because of the COVID-19 restrictions, no birthday party with other children is possible. The balloons deflated quickly, an apt symbol of the way the chid's dreams of a party with all of his/her friends were deflated. So many children are missing out on so much this year.
