Birthday Parties are a very big thing for grade school children in the suburbs where I live. When my son was in that age group, we organized trips to the Gundt Bear, factory, Teterboro Airport, the New Jersey submarine, a sheep farm, and the county courthouse. At home, there were ponies, clowns magicians, and robots.
Those kinds of parties are unthinkable in these days of lockdowns. Instead, we have drive-by birthday celebrations. Friends of the birthday child have their parents drive them past the birthday kid's home, and they honk their horns, yell, wave and hold signs. My neighbors' son had a birthday yesterday. There was a parade of at least 30 cars filled with classmates, and 7 pieces of apparatus from two local volunteer fire companies. This is the display we put at our driveway as part of the celebration: http://dan-matyola.squarespace.com/danmatyolas-pesos/2020/4/26/alien K-5 IIs, smc DA 18-135 mm F 3.5-5.6 ED AL [IF] DC WR Comments and criticisms are invited and appreciated.
