Birthday Parties are a very big thing for grade school children in the
suburbs where I live.  When my son was in that age group, we organized
trips to the Gundt Bear, factory, Teterboro Airport, the New Jersey
submarine, a sheep farm, and the county courthouse.  At home, there were
ponies, clowns magicians, and robots.

Those kinds of parties are unthinkable in these days of lockdowns.
Instead, we have drive-by birthday celebrations.  Friends of the birthday
child have their parents drive them past the birthday kid's home, and they
honk their horns, yell, wave and hold signs.

My neighbors' son had a birthday yesterday.  There was a parade of at least
30 cars filled with classmates, and 7 pieces of apparatus from two local
volunteer fire companies.
