Your “target branch” is very nice—the lighting and detail work well. I agree that the bokeh in the background needs to be blurrier so as not to be distracting. Maybe not f/2.8; maybe f/4.
I’m also not fond of that big black branch (BBB) cutting across the top of the frame. If you can use a fill flash without reducing the dramatic backlighting of the main leaves, that would be good. You might have enough depth in the RAW file to bring up the BBB with Lightroom or Photoshop. It would be a very nice shot if you could.
