As you folks know, I'm quite interested in butterflies, particularly monarchs. To attract them, I use a number of plants, like Butterfly bushes, Echinacea, Joy-Pye Weed and Milkweed. The best annuals for attracting butterflies is the zinnia, especially red zinnia. They are low to the ground. colorful and hardy, and they spread out quite a bit, so they make an excellent addition to my patio garden.
