No, the SMC is a superior lens. The Takumar is a budget lens. The SMC shows up at KEH and on eBay. If you can't wait for one, a good budget choice is the F/FA 80-200 f4.7-5.6. It's compact, lightweight, and sharper than Pentax's offerings in the 100 to 300 and 80 to 320 ranges. It is also quite inexpensive. Check B&H or Adorama or KEH. I would buy it over the Takumar 70-210.
