I regret to inform you that all of those creatures except the miserable
specimen reflected in the mirror have gone to glory, joined the choir immortal,
turned up their toes, squawked their last, passed over to the other side. In
short, they are but straw-stuffed memories.

The birds and the moose are in the Natural History Museum of Rouen, France.
Other than Flaubert and his dead yet immortal* parrot, that is, who are in
Flaubert’s former home, now a museum. There you can also see the death mask of
Napoleon and the guillotined heads of two French revolutionaries, Bordier and
Jourdain, taken by Flaubert’s father who was the chief medical officer of the
town at the time. I will spare you the photographs.
