My interest in Cornwall is partly the result of our visit, years ago, to northern Wales. I was quite surprised at how widespread the Welsh language was spoken, even in tourist areas like Ruthen and Portmeirion. Welsh was much more commoinly spoken there than, sys, Irish anyplace in Ireland, even the Dingle Peninsula. The Welsh flag was everywhere, but no UK flags except perhaps at Caernarfon, Bepeninsulaaumaris, and Conwy Castles.
I had a frind in college who was Cornish, and said a few anti-English things from time to time, but I didn't know how wide-spread that feeling might be.
