Back in the early 1960s while a SF region SCCA volunteer I repeatedly heard Bob 
(or Al) Holbert use the term "Preposterous ponderous plastic pachyderm" for 
GM's two-seater muscle car. Bob (or Al) drove a pretty hot AC Ace and later a 
MK I AC Cobra (based on the Ace, complete with the transverse leaf spring on 
the front end).
