I went for a bike ride yesterday on about 7 miles of Swanton road. If you’re in the area and want to do a little sightseeing that can really humble you, ride or drive on Swanton Road. If you want to park at the South end, park on Davenport Landing road, near the beach, it’ll cross 1 at Swanton. I parked at a pullout near a farm, pretty much at the start of the burn area.
I don’t have any pictures that do justice to the view up miles of charred hillside, but it’s the sort of view that can show a person where they rate in the world.
