They mostly suck, but seem to succeed in repairing equipment.
When I got thrown into the water with my 15-30 and it would no longer
autofocus, it was sent back as unrepairable, I wasn’t charged, but it was
working.
It’s almost as if someone realized it was just a loose connection and ticked
the unrepairable box so I wouldn’t get charged $300.

When the shutter on my K-1 crapped out last summer, it was gone for like 2
months, waiting on parts, but that could be a pandemic issue.

Nope, just put a body cap on it, and pack it well.

No, they have memory cards.

It’s usually OK.

I use searchtempest to search both craigslist and ebay

https://www.searchtempest.com/search?search_string=pentax%20k-1&category=8&subcat=sss&cityselect=zip&location=95018&maxDist=50000&Region=combined#gsc.tab=0

There’s on on ebay with a buy it now of $1100

There are a fair number of completed listings on ebay for under $1100

Although there is a K1 listed but shows a photo of a K30
