No photo to show for it, but I had a nice, close encounter with a Blue Jay yesterday. I was washing dishes & he landed on a branch right outside my kitchen window ... maybe 3-4 feet out.

He only stayed long enough to curse at a squirrel on a different branch.

I hope all goes well and you heal quickly.
