I went on a little 2 hour/23 mile ride yesterday, up a road called China Grade. 
 It’s a fun road that goes from Hwy 236/Big Basin Way to Hwy 236, avoiding most 
of Big Basin state park.  Unfortunately, a big chunk of the road is blocked off 
with a gate.  8 months later, the signs of the fire are very sobering, there is 
a whole lot of dead vegetation, as we enter into this year’s fire season, after 
a dry winter.

On the way, I stopped and took this photo of where a redwood had grown around 
some barbed wire:

More documentary than artistic.  I just hope that these stay as “after” rather 
than becoming “before” photos.
