Decades ago we ran into a convoy of Traveller caravans on the Dingle Peninsula. They were blocking the road in an apparent attempt to collect bribes from the locals and tourists trying to reach the town of Dingle. From what we saw, they have a unique culture and way of life, and definitely an independent approach to life and "settled" folk.
