There is a decline in insect populations all over the world attributed to the use of nicotinamide pesticides.

"Drones" will have to start doing the work!

Yes, this is a larva that I am raising for release. Ugly, ain't she?

I am most seriously concerned about the tragic decline in the population of
Monarch Butterflies in North America, and I raise and release from 30 to
70 every year. I have planted a lot of nectar plants in our yard, and
quite a few milkweeds to permit them to reproduce. In the last 3 years, I
have observed eggs that a number of released and wild Monarchs have
deposited on my milkweeds.

Other butterflies are also much rarer in our area than was the case 10-20
years ago. Accordingly, I also raise a few Painted Ladies or American
Ladies each year, and plant hosts for these species. I am hoping to also
raise a few black Swallowtails later this year, if eggs or newly hatched
larvae become available.

Amazing that some butterfly larvae can be so grotesque, probably to
scare off predators. Is that another of your breeding ventures, Dan?
