According to Sony the DSC-RX10 weights 1.095g (2lb 5oz). A K-5 weighs 750g
(1lb 10.5oz),
so even with a 50mm/f1.4 it weighs slightly less than the Sony.

A K-5 with the 60-250 zoom does weigh just about twice what that Sony weighs.

The Sony, though, has a sensor even smaller than a 4/3 sensor - only about 0.75
the size.
(i.e. the "35mm equivalent focal length" conversion factor is roughly 2.8! to
put that
in roughly comparable terms, the drop in sensor size between the four types of
sensor
("full frame", APS-C, 4/3, and the so-called 1" sensor in the Sony) is
basically the same
between each sensor size - you'll see a comparable drop-off for each size
reduction.

I never felt the need for a K-1 - I was happy with the performance I got from
the APS-C
sensor in my K-5. But I thought long and hard before deciding to take that
extra step
down to a 4/3 sensor (although, like you, I was finding the weight of a full
camera bag
was putting a limit on just how much gear I could comfortably carry around).
