After Reading Terminal Market, our group made its way to Philadelphia’s City Hall. It is the second-tallest masonry building in the world at 538 feet/ 167 meters (a building in Italy is a few cm taller). It is topped by a statue of William Penn, and until 1987 there was a “gentleman’s agreement” that no buidling in the city limits would be taller than Penn’s hat; then an office building (One Liberty Place) opened at 945 ft.
The stonework and statuary are remarkable, and these photos only hit at it. https://rickwomer.smugmug.com/2022/June-2022/Philly-City-Hall/ -- %(real_name)s Pentax-Discuss Mail List To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected] to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
