The foliage on the trees in my neighbourhood is looking pretty spectacular
at this time of year, so a few days ago I took a walk around with a camera.
This is the view I liked best:

(I grew up in the UK, so I'm not used to seeing leaves like that).
A day or so later I was out running errands, and saw this ahead of me:

Of course there are times when these colours aren't quite so welcome.
This is an example I found just a few blocks away:

if you look at the top of the pole to the left of the tree trunk you
might just be able to make out an red octagonal sign.  This is the "STOP"
sign that is supposed to warn drivers about the upcoming intersection!

P.S.  I didn't have my camera with me for the 2nd and 3rd shots, but
I did have my phone ...
