Thanks Paul. That's a young tree we have growing at the top of the
stairs to our second floor. I just ran a tape measure from it to where
Max was at the top of the stairs, it's 4 feet from where he was to the
front of the tree, which has an ~18" deep canopy.
I think us full frame guys forget how much DOF is gained from the
smaller format. Maybe if I can get him to cooperate tomorrow I'll try to
match that picture with the K1 & FA*85/1.4 at the same f stop and see
how it looks. Dogs are only somewhat cooperative in these activities, so
success is not guaranteed.
The XT-5 is 40mp, so the images are very close to the same size as the K1.
The Pentax is 7360 x 4912, the Fuji is 7728 x 5152.
Size wise, my K1 DNGs vary in size from just over 43mb to a bit under
47mb. The XT-5 files are all in the 47.5mb range.
For the interested, the camera does an incredible pixel shift, taking 20
images and combining them into a full bit depth 160mp image. It doesn't
combine them in the camera, Fuji has some downloadable software that
does the job. I suspect that is way too much processing to ask a camera
to do.
It also does automatic focus stacks where you set the near and far
points that you want sharp and push the button. The camera figures out
how many focus points are needed and takes a picture at each one for as
many frames as are needed. I'm going to find that super useful as a lot
of my pictures involve focus stacking.
I don't think they can be combined like in Pentax. It's something I will
have to try. The files would be magnificent. I want a faster card for
that. I'm betting it will be a lot of data.
I have two, possibly three portrait shoots set for tomorrow. I'm going
to use the Fuji rather than the K1 and see how it does.
