In june last, i applied for working from home (with a reduction in pay) and shifted to Palakkad in the southern state of Kerala and about 550 km from Chennai/Madras since anyway i was due for retirement this december (60 being the retirement age in India). personally, i am glad i made the switch, I should have made it earlier, but unfortunately it needed a pandemic for people to realise that some jobs, especially desk jobs like editing and news print production, can be perfectly carried on at home provided you had a good internet connection...
