HIE has the longest IR sensitivity of all the commercial IR films on the market so any others will provide less pronounced IR effects. The halation effect of HIE can be reduced as Bill W indicated by placing an IR absorbent material over the shiny pressure plate if it really disturbs you. > I've noticed that real IR filters are disguistingly expensive, not to > mention the bit about not being able to see through the lens is a bit of a > bummer, too. The guys on the IR List at http://www.pauck.de/archive/mailinglist/infrared/infrared.html Will certainly be able to help you obtain filter materials for placing at the film plane. THe only advantage to this is that you can't TTL meter and as you know there is often a very wide variation between visible light and IR ratios. Obviously this is only of consequence if your TTL meter has good and predictable IR response. I prefer to use my RF cameras for IR work as the finder remains 100% functional. > Is there any apprechiable (is that a word, what about if I spelled it > correctly?) difference between a 25 and a 29 filter with HIE?
