Well.. a recent Ebay auction ended with me being the winner. I have been hunting for the elusive Pentax 35-105 f3.5 SMC-A zoom lens for quite a while. After careful consideration it was going to be the only zoom lens I would want to own (I did think that perhaps I could have lived with the 35-70 f4 SMC-A but decided against it). I have spotted a few pop up on Ebay and they usually end up going at or around the $175-190 US mark minimum. Some have gone even higher (one recent dealer had a BIN for $279.95 US!!).
I was able to hunt down a local copy but it was pricey even after trying to talk the guy down ($425.00 CDN = $275.00 USD). I was floored then to win the auction and even more so when I picked up the lens yesterday. Beautiful lens, smooth zoom and focussing and great snappy aperture clicks. I've already run a roll of Portra VC 400 through it and hope to develop those today. It looks as though it will be practically living on the LX for family events. I'm hoping the resolving power is as good as I've read on Stan's site. Man.. I'm a happy camper :) Now onto the Limiteds :) Oh.. the cost to me ? $224.00 CDN plus $19.00 Taxes :) ( $158.00 USD ) which, after seeing the recent auctions and price in at a local retailler I was more than happy to cough up :) Cheers, Dave - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
