My 16-50 will "stop working" if I haven't used it for a while. Leaving
it on my camera, powered up, for a while will usually wake it back up.
I have to keep trying to autofocus with it and eventually it will come
back from the dead.

My Pentax 17-70 f/4 "main lens" has decided that it doesn't want to
autofocus anymore, on either of the Pentax cameras in the household.
Cleaning the contacts on the back of the lens had no effect. Other
lenses
are working normally.
Can this be repaired, or should I start looking for a replacement?
