Yep. Shooting through a window that's about 4 foot from the end of the lens.

I originally set the "stage" up to shoot through the screen door leading to my back deck, but it's too cold to stand there with the door open.

Works fine in the spring & fall, but too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.

Been thinking about it the last couple of days and I think I'm going to add some extensions to the porch railing so I can relocate the tree to the outside (past the railing where I'm depositing the bird food) so I can get the birds facing toward me while they're contemplating the food.

Also thinking about getting something like a Japanese Maple to grow in a container that could sit in that corner of the deck, but I'd still have the problem of the birds facing away from the window.

Agree. The "landing stage" cuts the feeder out of the frame. One question - are you actually shooting through the glass window? I look forward to seeing your other images.

So, we got Fern on Saturday before it got to New York on Monday. As I noted in my reply to AnnSan's PESO, I didn't get much "snow" as such.

But what I did get was enough to bring the birds to my porch rail for the food I put out there.

I attached the top of a fallen tree I cut off to the porch rail so it provides a perch while the birds study the situation. It's positioned so I can set my tripod up and aim the camera out the kitchen window.

I think I've shown y'all some before where I aimed the camera out the back door (through the screen), but IT'S COLD OUT THERE, and I don't want to be standing there with the back door open.

I've got some more to prepare & upload - Bluejays, Cardinals, Tufted Titmouse, Black Capped Chickadee and a few others I haven't identified yet, so stay tuned.

Also, this second go round finally brought me some REAL snow; about four inches (10 cm). I'm thinking about ideas for how I might capture that as well.
