The lake is called Mono Lake.

The jagged rock things are tufa. The lake is very briny. I had this gallery on my website that is only acccessible with link.. but all the photos I cropped from in their full frame views are on the site and most were once on PUG.. and they have titles - etc. Geology of Mono lake interesting..
