Yup. I had it for two years. I finally was glad to sold it, even if at
a loss.

Are you thinking on the mf or af version? I had the mf only.

Anyway, it sucked wide open, especially wide end. Completely unusable
except small prints:

wide open:
1) soft, even to point to make focusing difficult (also noted by other
users as well)
2) colour fringing a lot on the corners
3) esp. at wide end soft. Tele end was _reasonable_ but not very good
either

closed down:
gained somewhat, nice zoom at 5.6-8, but what's the point of having a
big 2.8 zoom if it's good only two stops down and is hard to focus
because of softness wide open!?!

Colour fringing was evident always. the ASPH element apparently wasn't
much helping.

Build quality: Not excellent either. The lens, although made of tough
polycarbonate, started having some play in the focus mechanism (mind
you, after heavy PJ usage of 1.5 year), therefore, the sharpness
deteriorated.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend it, after my experience. Also, it
focuses only to 1m, not closer. This lens clearly isn't up to the SP
badge (I have also the 3.5/70-210 SP Tamron, which is really excellent
and almost up to my primes). The Pentax 35-105/3.5 would be, by all
means, a much better and probably quite cheaper choice. Or a tokina if
you need 2.8 zoom.
