It's not just Canada Post. I had two studio flashes shipped by UPS and one arrived damaged. When I called, they told me that their insurance doesn't cover glass. The flashtube ($225Cdn) was made of glass, but was inoperative, not broken, so they eventually paid, after much discussion and stalling.
