They are ruined if dented. Due to their design with thight fit the slightest dent, like when you drop your tripod, will make the legs jam. Besides, their ergonomics are awful. The leg locks a pain and the rubber bands on the locks go wonky and fall off after a couple of years. Another effect of their design is that the legs will freeze in the winter. Eg. taking the Gitzo in and out of a warm car into freezing cold and snow is inviting disaster. Oh..and the end section of the tripod legs have all dissapeared (with a popping sound) due to pressure build up in the legs when retracting them.
