For me this is very simple.

It's a bit like cooking - which I also enjoy very much, but as we all
know can be impossible to do when it really needs to get done. If I've
got the Cooking Blahs, I pick up a book of, or watch an ancient VHS tape
of a once-famous UK cook called Keith Floyd. Notorious for slurping the
vino while he threw together the most amazing delicacies, his exuberant
series of shows on the subject instantly gets the culinary juices going,
and before you can say 'moules marinieres', I'm in that kitchen like a
rat up a drainpipe.

Similarly, with the Photo Blahs, I reach for one of my books by Jeanloup
Sieff, Arnold Newman, Jane Bown, and hey presto. Especially the Jeanloup
Sieff, where I instantly get a craving to be slinking around the streets
of 1950s Paris, Gitane in mouth, Leica in hand, on my way to photograph a
nice 'bum in the sun'...

My life as a holodeck character :-)

But at least it gets the old juices flowing, and it's only by studying
the work of accomplished masters I find that I am spurred into some sort
of action.
