Jeff, The Vivitar Series 1 90/2.5 macro (8 elements in 7 groups, floating-element design) and matching 1:1 adapter (3 elements in 3 groups) were made by Tokina, which later introduced its own 90/2.5 macro and 1:1 adapter of the same optical formula. The Vivitar has a tripod ring; the Tokina version omitted the ring but added the PKA setting and may have added internal baffling to solve a flare problem that was said to affect the Vivitar at nonmacro distances, according to the Nikon and Olympus discussion sites. The Vivitar Series 1 105/2.5 (1:1) was optically the same as the Kiron 105/2.8 (6 elements in 6 groups). Both were made by Kino Precision Optical. These twins were also optically the same as the Vivitar 100/2.8 1:1 macro that was not marketed as Series 1.
