Both of which are done better and more cheaply by the Quantum. > The Pentax TR Power > Pack seems to use larger-sized batteries (NiCds or > alkalines) instead of the AA-sized batteries used in > the grip. > How does the Quantum battery work? Recycling times are faster than the Pentax (anything other than a full discharge is recycled in a second or less). A fully charged Quantum will do about 12 hours of wedding work....maybe 500-800 discharges depending of course on film speed and apertures used. The one plus to the Pentax unit is that you can just pop more batteries in when it runs down. The Quantum needs about an hour and a 1/2 to fully recharge. I guess the other plus is that it's initially cheaper, but you have to buy all those batteries. I talked to a video guy recently who tried the Pentax unit on his 645 for a while and hated it...he was much happier with his Quantum. I didn't ask why specifically, but I thought it was the battery issue. Also with the Quantum you can just get another cord if you want to try a Metz...;) tv - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
