Also, the moon is pretty quick "moving" - so a multi-second exposure with 250mm lens will surely show just a trail of several moons not a single ball. With 500mm lens you have to keep your exposures pretty short (1/30+) or you will get motion-blurred moon too. So it's about the same with 250mm lens. It can be calculated. Or use a rotating telescope mount.
