    The white zone is for loading and unloading only . . .


. . . ooops, The white BUTTON is only to aid the photographer in finding 
the correct orientation of the lens.  Several people on the list have 
had lenses that somehow lost the little white button.  I believe the fix 
(if you are into asthetics) is to find yourself a junk lens from the 
same series (in this case the K series) and salvage the button from that 
lens.  Otherwise, thre's not much of a use to it.
