It would depend on the individual class and the instructor. Also, it would depend on how much effort that you put into it. Without actually attending, I couldn't say one way or the other. The zone system is most effective when you can implement it from both the camera and the printing process. It can't hurt to increase your awareness and knowledge of the zone system, even if you don't fully use it. Remember, a trip to the library is free and can give you a lot of knowledge, if you read and practice a lot.
