Hi everybody,

I had decided to write a single mail about my flash adentures of
the last month, but it seems they would come out too long so I
cut the message in two.

First, the Sunpak-Pentax 645 problem:
I don't know if anybody has ever experienced this: I own a
couple of Sunpak G4500DX flashes with TTL cords for Pentax
cameras (the non-af version). One of my cousins asked me to take
his marriage pictures and I decided to use one of those flashes
with one of my two 645. It was the first time that I was using
the Sunpak - TTL cord - 645 combo (usually I have a AF280T on
the hotshoe and/or a Sunpak connected via pc cord). Needless to
say, the TTL Sunpak cord works nicely with every otyher camera I
own but...
After the first couple of shots, I noticed that the flash was
discharging all the power after each shot. The green light
blinked, so I thought that *maybe* the dark suit of the groom
was eating most of the light. I was shooting at f/4 with a 400
Iso film, though, so the output should have been enough.
Unfortunately I've lost a couple of important moments because
the flash was very slow in recharging (and I was too stupid to
shot those moments with the MZ-5n I had ready around my
neck...).
Back home (luckily, the ceremony in the church was at noon and
the party in the evening) I tested in every way the two flashes,
the two TTL cords and the two cameras in various combinations.
Results: odd but true, the 645 pilots the flash in the right
way... until the shutter is closed. Then the flash fires again,
this time at full output. This is evident when the shutter speed
is slow enough.

Another lesson learned...

Gianfranco
