I had one of these and found it a good "do it all" lens (one of my PUG photos was done with this lens: http://pug.komkon.org/01apr/7d006511.html). The 1:2 macro capability was nice to have, although obviously not as good as a real macro lens. Overall sharpness was good. The only real drawback was pincushion distortion at the longer focal lengths. If you do a lot of architecture you need to avoid using it over 70-80mm as I recall. Construction was definitely above average for the price range. I replaced mine with a Tokina 28-70/2.6-2.8, giving up some zoom range and light weight to gain speed and optical quality. The Tokina's much better but also much more expensive. For the price I think the Sigma is a tough lens to beat in its category. -- Mark Roberts www.robertstech.com - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
