Hi Grant - and welcome to the list. I find that with the AF330FTZ, it will not auto-zoom with my FA*28-105 unless I have the lens set to the power zoom mode when I turn the flash on. After that, it will cheerfully auto-zoom even with power zoom off! Maybe this will help with that problem: can't help with the non-synching issue, other than suggesting cleaning contacts.
