Dave, I did something similar and really had fun. You get to know what happens after you pull the roll out of your camera and before you receive the prints and, believe me, it's magic! I could just touch the edges of it and understand how to produce something original and exactly (more or less...) the way you wanted it. It's a very creative experience even if, as myself, you can't actually set up your own darkroom afterwards.
