Hi gang,
The SLR camera has been around for more than 50 years. In that time,
there have been significant developments and advances. Have we reached the
point of "diminished returns"?
I recently read a series of reviews and comparisons of different cameras
in a magazine (don't ask me which as I pitched it). Here, to the reviewer,
the number of AF points ("gun sights") was a significant factor in their
evaluation of a specific camera!?
    "New features" 6, 8, 12, 18, 36, "honey comb" metering; 3, 6 8 12 18
point AF (gun sights) points; more features for the buck; etc.
The direction I really see it going? "Blister pack", full feature,
disposable SLR cameras!
Although, I feel the consumer end was lifted significantly with the
MZ/6. Enough to satisfy the consumer and enough to satisfy the enthusiasts
at an affordable price.

enough rambling!

Bob
