I have no experience of autofocus 50 mm lenses but I once did a bit of slide copying 
with bellows and 1.7 SMC-M and 1.4 SMC-M - the 1.4 was poor and the 1.7 usable - but 
the 50 mm EL-Nikkor enlarging lens I now use is excellent.
