Just a question >not a criticism really. Unfortunately, bottom of the line Pentax gear is all some shops seem to stock. I like the idea of being able to go into a shop and have the immediate pleasure of making a purchase and coming out clutching shopping bags (sad, eh). There's a much longer tale behind all this - ready for it? I actually bought the MZ-50 because the assistant had said that I could use my lenses on it. Naturally I tried them all out straight away and found out otherwise. Went back to shop, other assistant says "oops, sorry made a mistake assistant #1 should have known better". Tell you what, we've a lovely used Z-70 here, it should do everything you want and more. I wandered off clutching more new goodies. Fast Forward to France where I went off to work for 6 weeks soon after. First roll of film, eager to get developed, went into a photoprocessing shop and dropped off canister. One hour later, went back. "eeuuuh, there is a problem" says the assistant. Shows me empty film canister. Flip open back of camera - oops film's been pulled right out of cannister. Take camera out back, salvage film, process, happy again. Some more weeks later, now in England for godson's first holy communion. Take some photos, same thing happens. Film pulled right out of canister. Swear a lot, take camera back to shop. SHop happy to send off for repair. Parting shot to shop "I don't suppose you have any second hand 500mm lenses do you?" Wrong question. "no - wait, yes a minolta AF 500mm mirror" "but I have Pentax" "No worries, we'll just swap this Z70 for a 700i and we'll swap your zoom for a new one in a different mount and I'll throw in a little minolta flash gun " "err, okay" So that's salesmanship.
