Actually, I think that disposable cameras are one of the things that is
going to keep 35mm alive for quite a while. It's hard to come up with a
digitial equivalent that will have anywhere near as much profit margin.

Funny how we've come full circle. This is similar to how the first
Brownies were marketed.

Hi, Malcolm,

I was stunned about the disposable camera stat as well, until I
realized that
a disposable camera was the last new camera I bought. In fact, other
than a
few disposables that I picked up because I foolishly forgot to bring a
cam
along with me (never happens anymore, btw, 'cause I ~never~ leave the
house
without one!), or that I bought for the kids for Christmas stocking
stuffers,
my last new "real" camera was purchased around 1980 or so. Been buying
used
ever since.

I know lots of folks who don't own a camera, but buy a disposable once
or
twice a year when they go on holidays. Add to those, people who do
own
cameras, but forget them on a day trip or holiday or whatever, and it's
not
hard to amount to millions per year...

regards,
frank
